Happy birthday dear academie!

"Celebrating 350 years of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp and 50 years of its Fashion Department."

Because of this celebration, the city organizes exhibitions, "art in the streets" and a lot of other events.

An example of "art in the streets" are the "Antwerp Icons" of the fashion industry which are pictured on huge container blocks around the city. Altogether it are 12 designers who graduated of the Antwerp Fashion Department and show something "iconic" from their previous works.
The one I photographed today is in front of our charming cathedral. is from Marina Yee, one of the famous fashion designers from Antwerp and one of "de zes" or in English "the six". Other known artists who show their work are Ann Demeulemeester, Walter Van Beirendonck, Dries Van Noten, Maison Martin Margiela,...
I love the concept when fashion meets art and when it's exposed all over the place so it's available for everyone. And because of it's size you can't miss it at all.
